Veneers

Are chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth making you hide your smile? Customized porcelain veneers from Staten Island Aesthetic & Implant Dentist can hide these cosmetic flaws. Learn how our Staten Island, NY, practice can transform your smile from dull to dazzling with porcelain veneers.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that affix to the front of your teeth to conceal chips, cracks, stains, gaps, and other cosmetic imperfections. They can be applied to just one tooth or to several teeth, depending on your goals. Dental veneers are made from medical-grade porcelain that is color-matched and customized to your teeth to ensure natural-looking results.

A Closer Look at Veneers

Porcelain veneers conceal imperfections, create symmetry in your smile, and look entirely natural.

This patient came to our office to address the gaps in her top teeth. A set of 10 veneers not only hid the gaps but gave her a brilliant new smile. At our Staten Island, NY, dental office, Drs. Alex and Jason Hecht can design and place highly lifelike porcelain veneers to completely revitalize your smile. What Problems Can Veneers Address?

When a concern is purely cosmetic, veneers are a fast and simple way to revitalize your smile. Veneers can hide many imperfections, making them one of the most versatile cosmetic dentistry options. Veneers can improve the appearance of:

  • Stains and discoloration
  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Worn teeth
  • Gaps
  • Minor misalignment

However, it's important to understand that veneers are only cosmetic — if there's an underlying problem with the health or function of your smile, veneers can't fix it. If porcelain veneers are not the best option for your teeth, Dr. Hecht may recommend an alternative treatment that is more appropriate for your smile, such as crowns or orthodontics.

Ready for a Stunning New Smile? Contact Us for a Consultation

Veneers are a highly versatile treatment that can enhance several dimensions of your smile at once. If cracked or stained teeth make you self-conscious, there's no need to hide your smile forever — visit our office for a free veneers consultation.

One of the dentists from our father and son team, Drs. Alex Hecht and Jason Hecht, will assess your oral health and determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. If you are hoping for an especially brilliant smile, your dentist may recommend a preliminary tooth whitening treatment so that the veneers can be matched to the new shade of your surrounding teeth.

Our patient Santina has been with us for more than three decades. She had been considering cosmetic dentistry, but delayed it for years. Using our digital smile design tools, we were able to give her a glimpse of what we could provide. These images show the results of a comprehensive treatment that combined dental implants, custom restorations, and porcelain veneers. Santina says she feels like a new person thanks to these customized results, and her grandchildren are always asking to see her smile.

Paying for Dental Veneers

Cosmetic dentistry treatments such as porcelain veneers are not covered by insurance. Our Staten Island, NY, office values helping patients improve their quality of life by restoring their confidence to smile. To that end, we offer several financing options to divide payment into installments and will work with you to manage the cost of care.

If you want to enhance the look of your smile but have concerns about the cost of treatment, we invite you to talk to us. Our staff excels at helping patients find ways to make the treatments they want fit comfortably within their budgets.

If You Need More Concealment, You May Be a Better Candidate For Crowns

Veneers can provide a stunning upgrade to your smile if you have teeth with minor imperfections. But what if you have a tooth that is too misshapen or structurally compromised to enhance with a veneer? What if you have a tooth that is so discolored that it might show through the veneer itself?

In these cases, we may recommend a dental crown instead of a veneer. Crowns have been in use in dentistry for centuries, and are primarily known as a restorative solution. But today, with the advanced materials and tools at your dentist's disposal, crowns can also be used to cover imperfections that veneers cannot.

During your consultation, we will conduct a careful assessment of your goals and the state of your teeth to determine if veneers, crowns, or another solution is the best way to make your smile look incredible.

How Porcelain Veneers Are Placed

Whether you're addressing one tooth or many teeth, veneers can be placed in just two visits to our Staten Island, NY, office
Our practice uses medical-grade porcelain for stunning, lifelike results.

Preparation

Your dentist will prepare your smile by removing a thin layer of enamel from the teeth being treated. This process ensures that the veneers won't protrude and will fit naturally among surrounding teeth.

Impressions

Once your teeth are prepared, your dentist will take impressions. We will then send the impressions to our trusted dental laboratory for your custom porcelain veneers to be crafted.

Fabrication

It takes two weeks for your veneers to be fabricated. During this time, your dentist will fit you with temporary veneers to protect your teeth.

Final Check

When your veneers are ready, you will return to our Staten Island office for final placement. Your dentist will check the appearance and shape of the dental veneers and make any necessary adjustments.

Bonding

If you are satisfied with the result, he will lightly etch your teeth to help create a strong bond between the tooth and the veneer. Your dentist will then affix the veneers to the front of your teeth for a fully transformed smile.

The team at Dr. Hechts office from him and his son, Dr. Olena, Dr. Katz and the rest of the staff are excellent! I have had multiple procedures at their office due to an old and incorrectly fitted failed crown, fillings, root canal etc and they have taken care of everything over the past couple years. Would highly recommend!

Caring for Your Dental Veneers

To ensure the best results, our dental veneers are made from porcelain. Porcelain veneers look more like natural teeth than composite veneers made from resin. Porcelain also has the benefit of being longer-lasting than resin, so your veneers will look stunning for years.

With good care, veneers can last from 7-15 years. To keep your veneers in top shape:

Brush twice a day, floss daily, and visit your dentist for twice-yearly cleanings.

Don't chew on hard objects like pens, fingernails, and ice, as these may chip your veneers.

Limit consumption of foods and drinks that stain both veneers and your natural teeth, such as coffee, tea, dark berries, and red wine.

"I couldn't be happier with their services."

From Day 1, I was greeted with the most professional, pleasant and friendly staff. From my demands on having nitrous gas to calm my nerves and answering every silly question I might have asked. The bottom line, I no longer have to hide my smile or hide behind a surgical mask. If you have doubts, don't! Run to Dr Hechts' office as it was one of the best investments, I have ever made for myself! Thank you to both Dr Hechts and your wonderful staff!
