Dentures
Types of Dentures Our Practice Offers
Dentures have been used to replace missing teeth for centuries. Today’s modern designs give patients a wide range of options. Custom-crafted and removable for easy cleaning, these prostheses are more lifelike and natural-looking than ever before. The three primary types of dentures we provide include:
Complete Dentures
These traditional prostheses are probably what you envision when you think of dentures. Full conventional dentures replace all of the teeth on either the upper or lower dental arch. Traditional dentures rest on top of the gums and rely on natural suction and adhesives for support.
Partial Dentures
Individuals who are missing several non-adjacent teeth may benefit from a partial denture. These prostheses rest on the gums as well, but also have metal clasps that anchor the partial dentures to nearby teeth for additional stability.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Since the advent of dental implants, this type of restoration has gained substantial recognition and popularity. Like their traditional counterparts, implant-supported dentures can be removable. However, they are attached to dental implants for maximum stability.
Top 5 Reasons to Consider Dentures
Boosted Self-Esteem
Studies show that people with bright, healthy smiles have more confidence at social or professional events.
Improved Oral Functions
Proper chewing and speaking depend on having a full set of healthy teeth. Even one missing tooth can cause difficulties.
Better Oral Health
When teeth are missing, your jawbone can deteriorate and weaken. Dental implants that support dentures encourage healthy bone growth, strengthening your jaw.
Better Diet
Replacing missing teeth with dentures can allow you to eat more nutritious foods like nuts and crunchy raw fruits and veggies.
Improved Appearance
Aside from leaving visible gaps in your smile, missing teeth can make your face look shriveled, aged, and unhealthy.

Glowing Reviews From Happy New York Patients
The team at Dr. Hechts office from him and his son, Dr. Olena, Dr. Katz and the rest of the staff are excellent! I have had multiple procedures at their office due to an old and incorrectly fitted failed crown, fillings, root canal etc and they have taken care of everything over the past couple years. Would highly recommend!

Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures
It is true that our high-quality traditional dentures can restore your smile fairly quickly. And it is also true that the implant process to place artificial tooth roots in your jaw involves oral surgeries and healing periods. However, implant-supported dentures have major advantages that many patients feel are well worth the treatment process.
With implant-supported dentures, there is no:
Shifting or slipping out of your mouth when you eat, talk, or laugh.
Need for gooey adhesives to keep the dentures stuck to your gums.
Removing them for soaking in a liquid cleaning solution. Just brush and floss normally.
Jawbone shrinkage where teeth are missing, as implants encourage new bone growth.
Replacing traditional dentures after only a few years. Implant-supported dentures last much longer.

"I originally came to Dr. Hecht due to missing all my teeth and having to deal with an old Denture and broken crowns that forced me into isolation and depression. After coming and getting the work done, many things have changed. I’m still in the healing process but what do you expect when you get a mouth full of implants in 2 days... I look forward to completing the process with you guys and you are all truly a pleasure to see and speak on my visits. You make it all the worth while. Thank you again for helping me take care of a problem I encountered and dealt with for years. I feel like a new person." John S (L.J)
Offering All-on-4
Dental Implants
This solution offers fixed full-arch teeth replacement using only four dental implants. Because the All-on-4® method maximizes existing healthy jawbone, it is often recommended for those who have experienced some degree of bone atrophy who aren't candidates for bone grafting. If you undergo All-on-4 treatment at our practice, we can place a temporary denture immediately so you can leave our office with a brand-new smile while your permanent dentures are being crafted.
Caring for Your Dentures
Traditional Dentures
If you have traditional removable dentures, they should be rinsed after eating and brushed once a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Take them out every night before you go to sleep and place them in a glass of lukewarm water or a denture cleaning solution to thoroughly clean them and allow them to retain their shape. Taking your dentures out every night will also give your gums time to rest. Clean any healthy teeth as you normally would, with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Implant Dentures
You can care for implant-supported dentures similarly to how you would care for natural teeth: brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste twice a day. Be sure to floss around your dental implants and under your denture. You may use a floss threader or another dental device that gives you better access than traditional floss. Visit our office twice a year so our dentists can keep an eye on your dentures and implants. If it comes time for a new denture, we can make you one.
"I would definitely recommend this office if you decide to have new implants. I feel so great and happy the way I look. I am looking forward to having the permanent dentures put in after my gums heal. Thank you Dr.Hecht and all your staff for the most excellent treatment you gave me. Even the temporary teeth make me feel more comfortable with my smile. Can you imagine how I’ll feel and look with the permanent ones. This office makes me feel at home Thank you all again and again."
